We have just learned with sadness of the death on June 11 of our friend Evert Nicolas Westerhuis (1943-2026), treasurer of the IFC and member of Menno von Coehoorn. Evert was a Major General of Engineering (Netherlands ER), officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau with military distinction, and Knight of the Dutch Lion. Evert had extensive knowledge of fortifications and military history, not only in the Netherlands but also in other European countries. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, especially to his wife Wietske, who shared his passions.
